«Sporn»

I haven't even downloaded the Spore Creature Creator trial yet. I think I will just to play around with it. However, I don't really see the point until the game comes out. I mean, you can't do anything with the creatures once you create them until the game comes out in September.

Ever since I first heard of the game Spore, this is what I've feared: CAD Comic: Spored

The writer of Ctrl+Alt+Del, had this to say about "sporn":

What has surprised me, however, is that the practice is so pervasive that it has attracted its very own moniker.

"Sporn." Spore pornography.

My first thought it "Awww crap, my procedural universe is going to be filled with this shit."

- Tim Buckley

You can read the rest of what he had to say here: Spore please.

That was my first thought as well, over a year ago. I'll do my best to block those creatures from my game, but I still think I'm going to see a lot of them. I also think there will be complaints from enraged parents when they see penisfolk on their children's computer screens.

I don't think it would be possible to have an algorithm to automatically filter them out. Such an algorithm would filter out too many valid creatures as well. I think the best option is to block the players that create it.

And that's exactly what I plan to do. If I get penisfolk (or similar creatures), I'm blocking all content from the player it came from. At least we'll have that option.

.......... but now I'm somewhat concerned to see what my 9 year old would create.
