It's that day of the year again. I get to say I'm an entire year older than I was yesterday. I was 22 yesterday, and I'm 23 today.
The Cruxshadows Birthday Official
That's my favorite song by my favorite band. That possibly makes it my overall favorite song.
The observant among you may be wondering why I labeled this post with the "Holidays" label. I think I have the right to declare my birthday as an official holiday1 for Master Marf.
1: That's holiday in the American definition, not that crazy British definition of vacation. I don't get to take my birthday off from blogging.

«Musical Taste: Enya»
To see the others in the series, click here. (There, isn't that better than listing every part number?)
For this Musical Taste post, I'll have 3 videos that provide an example of Enya's music. I've been listening to Enya for a long time. She's the one that composed and sang the music for the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
Enya- Cursum Perficio
Enya - Orinoco Flow
Enya - It's In The Rain

«Musical Taste: Evanescence»
Parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
A series I started a while ago, I haven't forgotten or completed it. It's an on-going series. In it, I basically give example of music I like, one band at a time. (With he exception of number 8, I did that one a little different)
So this one is dedicated to Evanescence. The videos are official music videos.
Evanescence - Everybody´s Fool
Evanescence - Sweet Sacrifice
Evanescence - Lithium

«Musical Taste: Miscellaneous Odds»
Parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
By request, this part is a little different. This part will not be 3 songs by an individual band that's my "style". These 3 are songs I like that are outside my normal style.
Peter, Paul and Mary - Puff the Magic Dragon - 45RPM
What can I say? I have a soft spot for dragons.
Portal - Credits Song 'Still Alive'
From the game Portal.
We like the moon
The RatherGood.com Spongmonkeys! I seriously like this song, it's no joke. You may recognize them from a Quizno's commercial.

«Musical Taste: Sisters of Mercy»
Parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
The Sisters of Mercy, an English gothic rock band. They were popular in the 80's and early 90's, but I still like their music style. Nothing wrong with the 80's.

«Musical Taste: Wolfsheim»
Parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
When I was looking for the right videos, the Internet connection at my dad's wasn't keeping up with streaming a simple YouTube video. We're getting about half the speed we should. Turns out the reason is the microwave link off the island is maxed out. I was surprised to hear it is only 40mb/s... For the entire town!
In line this week is Wolfsheim; yet another German band. What can I say? I guess I like German music. Touch is one of my favorite songs by them.

Wolfsheim - Youth & Greed

«Musical Taste: Rammstein (100th Post)»
Parts: 1, 2, 3, and 4.
For some reason I felt pressured to make some grand post for my 100th. I even was out doing Google searches for other people's 100th post to get some ideas. You know what I found in my searches? More-or-less bland posts trying to hype up the importance of 100. So whatever, I'm just going to continue as I otherwise would.
This next one isn't so off-the-wall strange. It's Rammstein, a lot of people like them. (Oh, look, another band from Germany!) I usually don't like music quite this "hard", but sometimes I'm in the mood for it. The videos are worth a watch if nothing else, they have some very interesting videos with their music.

«Musical Taste: Blutengel»
Parts: 1, 2, and 3.
The next in the series is Blutengel. The song entitled Lucifer was released in 2007, and is the first of the 3 videos below. It also happens to be my favorite song by them (that I've heard so far anyway). The song I'm Dying Alone was the first of their songs I heard.
Do recall, the videos primary purpose is for the music. I try to find official videos made by the band, but that's not always possible. In this case, all the videos were made by fans.

«Musical Taste: Deine Lakaien»
You can read Part 1 here and Part 2 here.
Part 3 is an insight into Deine Lakaien; a German darkwave group with Alexander Veljanov as the vocalist and Ernst Horn as the musician. One of Bernadette's pictures reminds me of the lead singer for some reason. I first saw the picture at the Doodle Page.

«Musical Taste: Sopor Aeternus & the Ensemble of Shadows»
You can read Part 1 here.
Part 2 covers Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows. Perhaps the most tortured music I have ever heard. It's not a band, but a single artist, by the name of Anna-Varney Cantodea. She can be described as transgender or perhaps between genders, but she prefers to be referred to as female. She's German, but most of her lyrics are in English. Throughout her life she's been in a very deep depression.
Her music can be a bit of a shock to someone not fully prepared for it. I don't blame you if you don't like it. It takes some getting used to, but I have developed a sort-of connection with it.

Think my taste in music is odd, yet?

«Musical Taste: Crüxshadows»
My taste in music is a little odd, at least my dad, mom, and friends say so. This is part 1 of a multi-part series I'll do on my favorite music, concentrating on a single artist/band per part. The series will be sporadic, probably spread out over a couple of months or more. I'm going to try to limit it to 3 videos per band. The primary reason for the videos is the music, so any actual footage that goes along with it may or may not be related to the song.
Part 1 focuses on the Crüxshadows. They are at this point in time, my favorite. Usually for this type of thing you'd save the best for last, but whatever. My favorite changes frequently enough that by the time I did get to them, they may not be my favorite anymore. Although they look a lot like a German Goth band, they are from Florida. Going to be tough to only pick 3 videos...
