«Burj Khalifa (Burj Dubai) Tower Now Open»

Here's the opening ceremony fireworks for the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building. It opened January 4th, 2009. Despite Dubai's current economic situation, they spared no expense.

The building is 2,717 feet (828 meters) tall, making it over half a mile tall.

  2. Wonderful show. I still want to know what the maximum speed of an object is that gets flushed down a toilet at the top floor. Let's see, square root of gravity times height ... sqrt(9.8m/s*828m) gives about 90 meters per second or 201MPH?

  3. @ Looney: I would think they've taken measures to control things like that. Probably why there's so many mechanical floors.
