Somehow, I don't think Obama is going to be able to live up to the superhuman expectations of him. But he's did a pretty good job so far... This being not even a week into his presidency and all.

He certainly has made an impressive start. He looks as though he is gong to be quite decisive in the way he goes about things. I thought it was good that he restored funding to overseas family planning ( if I understand what he did right).
ReplyDeleteSome of his actions are going to rile the religious right but then they have had everything their own way for a long time so these kind of moves are going to be a shock for them.
One of the things I am interested in is to see how decisive he is on the issues of energy supply, energy security and green issues. He has scope here to really push the US ( and hence the West) into a whole new way of operating.
@ Bunc: Yes, I like what he's done so far.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope he really puts effort into building renewable power generation. It'd create jobs, reduce the cost of energy, and reduce our dependency on foreign oil.
Iceland makes a good example. They're currently 70% renewable energy, and they expect to be 100% by 2050. They're even the forerunners in hydrogen fuel cells for cars.
That's how I'd like to see the United States. Not because of environmental reasons (I'm not a "tree-huggin' hippie"), but because of economics and sustainability.
Don't you dare let me catch you hugging any trees Marf, I would be real disappointed in you. LOL
ReplyDeleteBTW drop by and leave a comment and let me know what you think of my new blog set up. The post content loads much faster - good SEO.
@ Bunc: I'd love to critique your new layout. However, your comment box does not show. I cannot make a comment. (I'm running Firefox)
ReplyDeleteThe template you used needs to be manually updated to have the code for the embedded comment box. I ran into that exact problem with my template. I finally did get the code in, but it turns out that embedded comment box doesn't work for mobile devices anyway...
Ah !!! Thanks Marf. I reckon the easiest way for me to track down the code I need is to use a test blog with a "thin" template( probably minima) and then turn the on page comment box on and off and compare the code in the two versions for changes and compare it then to mine.
ReplyDeleteI don't have much time this week so this is a real nuisance.
@ Bunc: That's how I found the code, except the setting doesn't change the code of the template.
ReplyDeleteThe updated templates have an if statement that checks <b:if cond='data:post.embedCommentForm'>
That should give you something to look for in the code, anyway.
Ok.
ReplyDeleteWell, while you all are talking code and comments, I'll be the one over here thinking deeply, trying to envision Obama's superhero outfit/costume/uniform ((which is it?)).
What would his colors be? Hmmm. Makes one really wonder.
@ Monique: Red, white and blue. He is the President. Captain America, stand aside!
ReplyDeleteYou are correct... See
ReplyDelete.
@ Monique: Indeed. I actually have a different version of that image.
