«Subway Sucks»

Seriously... I hate Subway because of this sort of crap. They ask you what you want on it, and once you say what you want: "Sorry sir, that doesn't go on this type of sandwich." Well, then just make the friggin' sandwich how it should be! You're the sandwich artist, not me. I avoid Subway whenever possible.

Banned From Subway

Almost like a Bel-Air story... But seriously, a visit to Subway is about that frustrating to me.

  1. Wow. I don't think I've ever heard anyone be so animated when talking about Subway...

... I think I'll go there for lunch seeing that I have no issues w/ their service or product.

    1. I ordered a BLT at the subway drive through thinking no one can possibly be stupid enough to mess up a BLT its in the name and when I retrieved said BLT I went home and all it was, was a piece of toasted bread with 6 strips of bacon and very little mayo the fucking morons can't make a BLT.

  2. @ Monique: I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from eating at subway. I just personally avoid them.

  3. Subway sucks! I figured out how that lard ass Jared lost so much weight eating at subway. I ordered one their foot long Italian sandwiches, when I went to eat it, it had just a sprinkling of veggies on it. So for 7 bucks, I essentially bought a piece of expensive bread. What a rip off. I'll never go to another Subway again.

  4. @ Anonymous (#3): Not to mention he exercised and didn't eat much else.

Like I said, the part I hate most about it is I've got to tell the "sandwich artist" how to make a sandwich that I obviously don't know how to make! It's so frustrating to me that I'd rather not eat anything; I'd rather skip the meal.

  5. its not that hard to order a sandwich just think about it when your at home what do you start with first?bread, they do have the bread type listed on the sneeze gard in front of your face.they have a six inch or a foot long what size do you want?they have a big board on the wall that tells you what type of sandwich they offer. they have a list of what kind of cheese you have to choose from on the sneeze gard right in front of your face.do you want it toasted?what veggies would you like on it? again there is a list on the sneeze gard in front of your face.last what kind of sauce would you like on it?and guess what there is a list of the differant types of sauce right there on the sneeze gard in front of your face.its really that easy if you look right in front of your face for the choices. but dont get me wrong i hate how corprate says you have to put four slices of ham on a six inch and only eight on a footlong and how they are sliced paper thin and they skimp on all there sandwiches like that. and how all the five dollar sandwiches are made with the cheepest meats[unhealthy ones, processed meat]i also hate that franchise for alot of other reasons like the workers dont get lunch brakes wether they work six hours or fourteen hours how they always seem to be under staffed to save on labor cost but have so many people on that they dont have enogh hours to hand out to people so no one can work over time and so they dont have to pay for workers to have insurence but if a worker gets sick they better have a doc note.or hoe when they finely are to over staffed they try to make people want to quit by working them one day a week untill they get fed up and quit so they dont have to pay unemployment.and dont you even think they are fair when they hire people my manager has said when a black person has handded there app in and walk out LIKE IM GOING TO HIRE A NIGGER or the time this lady was told she was to old to work there or te time the owner found out one of the new girls was pregnant and to fire her and since it was here 90 day trial period thy wont have to pay unemployment so they told her they had to let her go because bussines was to slow i have herd all this with my own ears since i used to be kinda close to the owners but when i got pregnat thet started fucking with me until i quit last week but its cool they will get theres o yea they are now trying to make it hard for me to get my last check theres so much more to all this but i wont bore you any longer.so subway sucks on so many levels its crazy i will never step foot in one again!!!the store im talking about is owned by kassebaum restaurants, inc

  6. @ Anonymous (#5): I have problems making decisions anyway. Even simple trivial things will have me totally indecisive and unable to choose. At Subway I have to make decisions for everything that goes on the sandwich, not just what type I want.

When I make an invalid choice, I feel far more humiliated than what is rational to feel. So that's my reason.

  7. Maybe Jared lost all that weight on the Subway diet because he couldn't afford to eat there. I've been ripped off twice (trying to use the Subway gift cards) once at a store in the St. Louis area while visiting my sister and most recently at the one nearest home here in Florida. The first card was a brand new $25 card that had never been used and the second had $11 or $12 left on it. Both times, I was told that there was NOTHING left on the card. I know $36 is change isn't some great fortune, but it's the principle and how Subway deals with such problems. Basically, the store tells you that it's the computer's fault; and when you contact Subway, they tell you that the stores are individually owned and operated and just don't make any effort to solve the problem. Obviously, no one at the home office know how to spell CUSTOMER SERVICE.

If you always pay cash and don't buy their screwed up gift cards, you'll probably be happy enough with Subway. That's what I'd do if I were ever going back there again, but there are just too many sandwich places with food that is just as goodor better and some are just as cheap, and THEY haven't gotten too big to cre about their customers getting what they paid for.

    ReplyDelete
  8. @ diksagev: I hate gift cards anyway. You can only use them at a specific store. They already have your money, yet they don't credit you interest on it. Then they expire, or have issues like you did.

  9. I went to Subway today and the guy that was working there said Jared had weight loss surgery. So much for losing weight on Subway sandwiches.
There new commercials on TV say any $5.00 foot long. False advertising, not all are five dollars. They flash that for about 2 seconds.LIES,LIES,LIES!!!!!! I asked for the home office phone number and he didn't have it. SURPRIZE !!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. @ Anonymous (#9): Yeah, in this town there are no $5 foot-longs at all. They're all $9.99 or more.

  11. Ok this may sound like no big deal but I got a 6 inch meat ball sub with swiss and red onions that is it. Well as I was paying the lady who made me my sub used a knife to wrap the parer around it I noticed it had mayo on it and I asked her was there mayo on it and she said yes I said well I didnt want mayo on it and she didnt need to clean her knief on my sub I said soemthing and she walked away am I being an ass?

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ Anonymous (#11): Well, the customer's satisfaction should always come first. However, these people are not paid enough to care.

How much mayo was it? If it was just a little tiny amount then you might have been a bit of an ass, unless you're allergic to mayo. Then you had every right.

  16. Subway is always out of bread. The usually cut my sandwiches with a dirty knife. The service is very slow. They frequently ignore customers at the Drive-Thru.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Subway's per-sandwich profit margin is high, so what do you expect to receive in return? Just lazy-ass convenience.

You can make a footlong BMT for $1.50 at home, as compared to the purchase price here of $6.25, if you similarly use the paper-thin slices of ham, salami, and pepperoni.

The only real thing Subway has going for them is the fresh baked bread, if you luck out when you show up. But you can jazz up a plain supermarket bun with a swipe of olive oil on top with a sprinkle of romano and Italian herbs, and set that under a broiler for a minute.

The same goes for their meatball subs. Use frozen meatballs and your favorite jar sauce from the supermarket.

Best yet, I get some tasty loaf bread, that way less bread than a bun.

And notice how the sandwiches you get never look like the ones on their website: no ripe, red slices of tomatoes, no crisp, actually GREEN lettuce.

And a Subway BLT? Fagetaboutit. It's like they are trying to sneak a little bit of bacon in on a sandwich as if they are operating in an Islamic or Jewish country, by keeping the bacon on the down low.

It's also a particular scream how they use the smallest wrapper possible, then wrap the sandwich up diagonally so that you can't easily open it partially to begin chowing down in the car.

The one previous commentor was right. Subway is for losers who want to pay 4x for a sandwich. Better to buy a franchise instead.

  18. subway sucks spread the word i work there and it is one of the most shittiest managing and pay no breaks nothin u wanna know how much of a raise i get in a year and ahalf 10cents woopy fuckin do and the customers need to jus look eight in front of there face to see what they wanna get it's listed on sneeze gard or a big fucking board in front of ur face if u ask for something and we say no we do not have that please do not get pissed off at me cause u are to fuckin lazy to make a homemade sandwich

  20. Lets face it, subway is substandard and thats all there is to it. Their customer service sucks, there policy regarding sub of the day sucks and more important, its not actually fresh nor good for you.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The thing that pisses me off about subway is the cheesy commercials that always stress "Eat Fresh"
Eat fresh my A$$. Some of the time only the bread and I mean ONLY the bread is fresh. The rest is pre packaged and microwaved. Go to D'Angelos thats the real deal. Good old fashioned bloody meat cooked judst in time in front of your eyes. the way you want. I wanna hear ding ding of the spatula, not the F'in Microwave. Stewpid Beoches ripin me off .cha chinger.

  22. Subway restaurant's are one of the worst sandwich shops ever created. Their product is terrible, and no one can honestly refute that, i work in a REAL deli, where we make REAL sandwiches. We slice the meat right in front of you, and give nearly excessive portions, it isn't pre-cut a month in advance, and skimped like subway. If you want quality food, take that 5 dollars and go to a real deli where you will get food that isn't made buy a bunch of jackasses who hate their lives.

PS: one of my most memorable experiences with subway was when i approached the large glass door a half hour before closing time, and an employee ran up with a shit eating grin and locked the door in my face. True story. So quite frankly subway can kiss my fucking ass, and i hope jared has a myocardial infarction after he has collected masses of subway blood money. shame on you subway

  25. how nice that subway asks what you want on the sandwich then says ---oh we dont put that on this sandwich. Ok make it like the pic then ! But what do you want on it ? These people are robots and most dont speak english. I called customer service today and they dont care. I called the district mgr and they dont care either. Tried to use a travelers check and they look at me like im an alien. Then they put the sandwich in the trash since they wouldnt take the travelers check which is AAA and visa approved. Maybe i need to order in a differnt language so they get an order right for a change. Pitiful company all around customer service, food quality, food amount and cleanliness ----i give it an F- and im being generous.

  26. the guy you had does sound like an idiot, but as a subway employee i can say that first, we do need the bread choice first, cause we cant put meat on deli paper, and it takes an extra second or 2 to cut it, a second or 2 u can use to tell us what kind of meat, and cheese you want. i can tell you this though, that would never have happened at my store though, my people know better and we keep our store at a 98% approval rating, (would be 100, but you cant please everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  27. How is it possible for a 98 % approval rating with no voting system ? Is this the election ? Ive never seen a box where to put my vote. But then again- these people cant really understand english unless its paycheck time.

    ReplyDelete
  28. WOW. are you f***ing ignorant or what. I was born and raised in America you moron. I got straight a's in my English and reading classes. what I'm saying is that at least 98% of our customers leave happy. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. I do my job and I do it damn well. I like to take pride in my work even if it is "just" Subway. I guess "some people ^" just don't understand what that means.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh, and i feel i have to clarify this. I dont believe theres ANY major fast food chains that take any sort of checks. So anyone complaining about that is really not too bright. Also there has been an occasion or 2 where I actually paid for a customers sub from my own pocket because something happened, like they were a bit short. or they forgot their wallet. and just tonight when i was closed and about to lock the door, 2 gentlemen walked in and even though, it was 2 minutes after closing, i pulled everything back out and served them. Its also really dumb to assume i dont speak english or that im not american just because i disagree with you on something. especially since im typing out words in english now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yea -you pay for customers right out of your own pocket im sure. Can anyone picture that acutally happening. NO ! How about reopening a store after it closes ? NO ! If anything they shut the store 15 minutes early. And it wasnt a personal check----its a travelers check which is supposed to be like cash. But i explained that in english so you probably dont understand it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. first of all, if i closed early, id get fired, (its in the "rules") secondly, dont get mad at me because i actually care about other people, you kkk nazi bastard. I am a white male, born and raised in ohio, and obviously i can speak english just fine. i didnt re-open the store, i was about to lock the door after we closed when those men came in, and they even gave me a tip for serving them after close. Its called "going above and beyond" for your customers, and its something that every "retail" employee should strive to do, but they dont always. And i don brlieve i said ANY SORT OF CHECKS!! its because they are so easy to fake and hard to tell. these days its cash, credit, or get the f*** out. its like that ALMOST everywhere.and as far as, ""But i explained that in english so you probably dont understand it.""" wow, you are fricking retarded and im not gonna comment on this anymore, unless someone with a brain comes along. oh and yes, i did pay for 2 customers subs twice, just because youve had shitty service soesnt mean that everyone else has. i WANT my customers to come back, more customers means more money

    ReplyDelete
  32. Has anyone ever seen a white guy working at subway ? Im sure youre a white guy from ohio. ( nesenda ) Just like my customer service is not in india. You said you were closed---not closing. To not lock or to reopen a closed restaruant is against the rules and and you need to be fired. Is that your great customer service motto --cash credit or get the f out ? Since you pay for customers who forgot thier wallets, and let them in after closing, then we all would like to know where your store is. Didnt think you would offer that info ( nesenda the white guy from ohio )

    ReplyDelete
  33. Its been a week and i guess we will never know this subway location where nesenda ( the white guy ) lets customers in after hours and pays for them too. Maybe he got robbed and put in the freezer by the same people that he let in after closing time. Or more likely he is just another illegal hired by subway to rip people off. Nensenda---you are dismissed.

    ReplyDelete
  34. subway has quite a gimmick, they spend millions advertising different sandwiches but they will not pay the help enough to learn how to make them. they want you to tell them how to make a Philly cheese steak sandwich. i have eaten Philly cheese steak sandwiches all over the u.s.a.and i never been asked how to make one until i made the mistake of walking into subway. bottom line they want you to tell them how so if it tastes like crap, they can say that's what you ordered.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I work at Subway and when it comes to making sandwiches, you tell us which one you want, we ask you, "Would you like to double your meat, or add bacon/peperoni/salami to that today?" You say yes or no, or maybe you ask me to put ham on it. I've made countless Philly cheese steaks and people ask me to put ham on it. No problem, it gets rang up as "Add Pepperoni". Then we ask you which cheese and if you want double the cheese.

Maybe you live near one that doesn't care about it, but at the one I work at in Northern Indiana, we'll basically put whatever you want on your sandwich because we care about making the customer happy. If you have a problem with the amount of veggies we put on it, then TELL US, don't get mad because there isn't enough. You don't get charged for asking for extra veggies, we just have to start off with a specific amount of them. Heck, when it comes to the meats half the time you can ask for an extra slice of ham or another scoop of tuna or whatever, and we're not going to charge you extra. JUST COMMUNICATE WITH THE EMPLOYEES.

At least at the one I work at, we have a little strip of stickers that tells us exactly how to make each sandwich. We follow the actual Subway policies a lot more than some restaurants, I know. The company itself has set guidelines that most stores fudge or don't even bother with, but when you find one that actually does what the corporation wants you to do, I think you'll have a better experience.

  36. Subway sucks, nothing more nothing less! I went to my local Subway @6501 Old Shepardsvillle Rd. in Louisville Ky, and asked for a sandwich with mayo on it. They started to put light mayo on it I told them I don't want light mayo, they said,"it tastes the same,it's all we use". So I told them,"I can taste the diffrence and can't eat it on my sandwich". So they said hold on went to the back, and got another bottle of mayo. Now this is where it gets tricky, as they took the light mayo bottle with them, and did not return with it. I said are you sure this is Mayo, and not light. The lady said yes and made the sandwich, but when I got to work and started to eat it, it was light mayo! It went in the trash! I will never eat there again, or any other Subway again!

  37. You know, I work at subway. And I can tell ya, they are all corrupt. Everyone. They are false in everything. Freshness, the advertisement. Customers see the picture of the turkey sandwich or roast beef, or even the club, Thinking they will get that same amount of meat. Nope sorry, only 8 slices. Hey it used to be 6 slices! Oh that's right, the slices also use to WEIGH MORE...but now they are smaller and thinner, so 8 slices it is!

It's crap. I have worked for two different owners, and it's all the same: Change the labels on the cambros of food so "we don't fail the inspection". Okay, so here I am labeling EVERYTHING...Yet the the inspector fails to recognize that one person was able to "prep" all of the meat and veggies? COME ON!! They are corrupt as well. I have reported this to an inspector, and what do you know? NOTHING HAPPENS..

At least at the other subway I worked at, we threw away the soup and meatballs. The one I work for now, we save it..even though it has been there for more than 3 days...disgusting.

Teriyaki, buffalo, chicken strips in general, thawed they are good for two days. HAHA you think they wanna throw it out? Heck no, just change that label and they pretend it's still good for another 2 days....It's disgusting people.

As for us employees...The current people I work for now are shady as F*ck. AND CHEAP. First check I get from them bounces...Okay red flag! and then a few weeks after that, they said the account number on the checks is bad. I have been told they do not pay you after 10:30pm (we close at 10pm here). Management is crap. The manager at the other store smokes pot on the job, as well as another co-worker.

I am overworked. Most of the time I work by myself, which means I have to do all of my duties including the pre-closer's duties. Stock everything, prep food, clean the lobby, clean the bathrooms, gather the garbage and cardboard, fill the sauces, serve the customers, bake more bread and make sure not to burn it. It's exhausting, I hardly get any break at all. I never sit down. I will maybe be able to sit down for about 5 minutes if I am lucky. These people are overworking us. No wonder I feel like I am going bat-shit crazy sometimes. My body aches more than it use to. In fact it never did before. Oh maybe that's because at my last job I ACTUALLY HAD A BREAK. AND SAT DOWN. Oh and I always had someone else working with me.

This comment is long enough. I could just go on and on about how much subway sucks the life out of their employees and the money from the customers, but this must end.

    ReplyDelete
  38. F*ck that, I'm typing more, this needs to be said.

They thaw the steak in water, so the meat becomes soggy and waterlogged. Anytime I work, I put it in the walk-in so it thaws correctly. I've noticed the employees here don't wash their hands all the time when serving customers.

In addition to the duties I have to do, I also have to take out the ice in the bin that holds the food, which can take a good 30mins-45mins, depends on when I switch it off..

The water draining from the soda machine overflows because the pipe is clogged, so water leaks everywhere, so that's another thing to maintain. Every two hours.

Our bread pans and bread liners for baking bread is oiled, so if you didn't intend to get oil on your sandwich...too bad..it already has it on there. Another reason why I do not eat my employee meal...

The Fuze tea at the store I work at is not fresh. They have me put it in the walk-in at night.

As for the sandwiches and people wanting other meat on em, hell, put what you want on it. I'll just figure out the cost and what to charge. It's not rocket science. Some people are just too true to the subway rules and standards(like in downtown Seattle), but after a while, like me, you say "F*ck it" and just bend the rules. The rules and standards are stupid anyway.

Yes, I will start with 6 olives like the chart says, but that's when the management is around...or any other person working there who has their finger up the owner's @ss and I know they will say something....so if an employee does that, just remember, they would love to give you more, but some are too afraid of what the management will do, or afraid of getting a write-up because they were giving what the customer wanted. But then again you get the tight-wads who really stick true to the formula. If you come across these people, go to another one hahaha :) Just some advice. Because it's just as well that the other co-workers will say the same thing. You might get lucky who knows...Anyways... Subway is not fresh..freshest thing is the pile of Sh*t they throw at you....

  42. Ok ppl I work at a subway and have been for a year. Mine is in a travel stop so it is 24/7. I have previously worked at McD's, Sonic, Braums, Sonic, and a movies theater so I can honestly say subway is the worst job I have ever had. Let me make this clear the job itself is not hard, it is just more annoying than anything I have ever experienced in the 5 years I have been working(i am 21). Just try to imagine doing what Mc'Ds and all the other places do except the fucking customers WATCH YOU WHILE YOU MAKKE THEIR FOOD!!. I fucking hate it. I stand behind a glass while some duche bag, bitch, fucking twat tells me wtf they want. And it's always the same. I want a footlong blah, blah, blah. Then they've already pssed me off cuz I have to ask them what kind of bread they fucking want. I ask the q "what kind of bread" at a million fucking tmmes a day. I have it. I have gotten to the point where i just walk over to the bread cabinet, open it, and turn around and glare at the custumer until their retarded ass realizes they need to tell me what kind of bread. And if your wondering if i ever get in trouble for it I do. But they will never fire me. Because I make their money. I always wash my hands and do the work. And to top it off I'm the only one to do the overnights for as long as I have and they can't afford to lose me. But stll a smile won't make your sandwich taste better or make it worth the money. I can't stand this shit. I stand behind a glass makng food while some half ass dieting POS is allowed to be a PICKY AS THEY FUCKING WANT TO BE WHILE CRITICIZING THE FUCK OUT OF YOU! That's whats wrong wth ppl these days. U present them with the ability to watch and basically make a SW however the fuk they want to, PPL WILL FUCKING TAKE ADVANTAGE AND ABUSE THE FUCK OUT OF IT!!! Every day this fucker comes in gets a double meat feast with triple cheese slghtly toasted. Then he makes me do the most humiliating service n the fckn world. He has me put a hand full of lettuce on it and makkes me pick out every little piece of lettuce that isn't the right shade of green. CAN YOU FUCKING BELIEVE THAT!! All of us fucking hate him. And it doesn't matter how many ppl are in line behind him HE STILL MAKES US DO IT!! Uuuuugh, fuck workin at subway. Yeah... the only reason I'm keeping my job is Bcuz the econemy sucks and so does this job so bad that they can't hardly hire any keepers so all of us who have stuck with it are gettng our full 40 hours and are at $8.50+/hour. I happen to be at $9 because I work overnights which really fucking suck. But that's it. This concludes my rant lol. Don't get me wrong I get it that I am rude to alot of ppl who aren't trying to gve me a hard time. I can't help it sometimes. I'm working a very stressful job just to keep the food on the table for my family and sometimmes I can't handle it whil I'm at work. FYI I'm not always rude I have gotten alot better recently. Just when I'm makng 250+ sandwhiches in an 8 hr period mostly. I've just gotten off of work a couple of hours ago and it was kinda chill. lol

  43. I have to agree with every disgruntled employee that has used this site as a venting board against the hypocrites that run Subway. All they care about is making $$$ for themselves and basically get the unsuspecting employees to "assume the position" and take the constant BS they dish out up the ass, while bent over the prep tables. Some of us actually like the customers that come to get a sub,its them owners and managers that make us hate everybody. It makes me sick knowing that things the managers do would get a normal subway "monkey"(employee as I call it) fired on the spot.Nothing will ever change until the mass public starts to take business elsewhere and hack n slash at Subway's profit margins.....remember less customers means less money for the cash greedy douchetards that run these sweat shops of Subbery!!!
