I have completed my map for Portal. That only took what, nearly 2 years? It's not like I've been working on it steady for that long though. I'd just been working on it here and there, and took a long break from it for a while.
Yes, it is my first map ever for the Source engine. However, I didn't want it to look like a "first" map. I've seen some pretty bad ones that other people have made. I think I did pretty good, I like to pay attention to detail.
If you're looking for something extra to accomplish, every camera can be destroyed... somehow. Even those on non-portal surfaces. Good luck!
Here's the download link: marf-aperture.zip (right click / save as...)
I'll just re-use a screenshot of it from a previous blog post.

Hey marf. I checked out the forum you loaded your map to and saw some good review so I decided to try it out myself but I cant. It didnt download all the way and i got a popup when I tried to open it that said it isnt a vaild .zip file 'o.O
ReplyDeleteAny clue as to whats wrong?
@ S1x Legi0ns: I don't know. Maybe your could try again? Or you could download it from myApertureLabs, as I've uploaded it there, too.
ReplyDeleteI just finished your map, (a little late to the party, I know) and I feel compelled to tell you that your custom map is THE best that I have played in a long time (and I have played quite a lot of custom maps). I enjoyed that actually put a mini-story in there and didn't just slap a couple of jumps together; your hard work really showed.
ReplyDelete@ Matthew: Thank you. There are a few things I'd like to fix, but I got so burned out from making that. And I'd rather not have 2 versions of my map floating around out there.
ReplyDeleteI might make another map after Portal 2 comes out. No promises though.
Hello Marf, i am stuck in your map. I have no clue of what to do when Glados tries to kill me with a rocket launcher and a bunch of turrets at the entrance. i managed to screw all the turrets over, recovered a companion cube... What do i do now? I am currently in a room with that turret.
ReplyDelete@ Михаил: In that room to the right in the picture above (have the turret break the glass), there's an energy ball socket. You'll also need the cube to complete the circuit on the dangling wire in that room. A button will raise. Once pressed, it will shut off the turret and open the main Iris door.
ReplyDelete4 hours i can't jump wiht the cube to another side with 2 buttons...
ReplyDeletehelp...
ReplyDelete@ Justice!: That first puzzle room is a bit more difficult to explain. Try leaving the cube on the blue button and just fling yourself over to the two red buttons. Make sure you use the pit with the ladder to fling yourself over there. Once over there, place a portal on the wall and go back through. You should be at the bottom of the pit now. Just climb the ladder, grab the cube, and go back through your portal into the room with the two red buttons.
