«PSA: Intelligence Singularity»

[ ALERT! THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. ]

The artificial intelligence singularity is inevitable. Once computers become smarter than humans and are able to reason, they will be able to improve upon themselves. The improvements will allow even smarter computer and they will be able to improve themselves, and so on (hence the "singularity").

When the robots come, see if you can arrange to be their pet. Pet owners love their pets.

  1. If computers and robots ever get to the point where they can reproduce with variation and are then subject to some form of natural selection that is the time to panic. They will be evolving and Terminator will soon have arrived.

  2. @ Bunc: I wouldn't expect robots to evolve. I'd expect them to "intelligently design" themselves to be better.

Much in the same way humans might in the future with genetic engineering.
